Indonesia's cultural diversity demonstrates that social perception is not always universal. The rise of intolerance and exclusive religious narratives in contemporary society has created challenges for maintaining social cohesion in Indonesia’s multicultural context. Therefore, a humanistic and inclusive da’wah approach is needed to strengthen the values of tolerance, pluralism, and humanity in social life. This study aims to analyze the concept of humanistic da’wah management according to Gus Dur and its relevance in multicultural society.</p> <p>This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research. The data were obtained from books, scientific journals, and various academic literature related to Gus Dur’s thoughts, da’wah management, pluralism, and Islamic humanism. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive-analytical techniques through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.</p> <p>The results of the study indicate that Gus Dur’s da’wah management emphasizes humanistic, pluralistic, and cultural approaches in delivering Islamic values. Dakwah is not only understood as a religious activity but also as a means of social transformation to create harmonious social relations. Gus Dur’s da’wah strategy prioritizes dialogue, tolerance, and respect for local culture. Sholeh Bahrudin and its contribution to shaping the social character of santri. The study is motivated by the growing importance of Islamic education in fostering social values, particularly in response to the challenges of modernization, which often weaken students’ sense of empathy, cooperation, and tolerance. Although numerous studies have examined da'wah management and character education separately, limited research has explored KH. Sholeh Bahrudin’s da'wah management framework and its relevance to the development of santri’s social character. This gap forms the basis of the present study. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using library research and content analysis of KH. Sholeh Bahrudin’s thoughts and related literature. The findings reveal that his concept of da'wah management consists of three main stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation, all of which emphasize a humanistic, contextual, and value-oriented approach. Penelitian ini berfokus pada pemahaman bagaimana strategi dakwah budaya yang diterapkan oleh Walisongo berkontribusi pada pembentukan tradisi Islam yang tetap lestari dalam masyarakat setempat. Keberhasilan mereka tidak semata-mata karena faktor politik atau ekonomi, melainkan karena pendekatan kultural yang bijaksana, yang kemudian melahirkan peradaban Islam Nusantara yang khas. Artikel ini mengkaji bagaimana Walisongo mengintegrasikan ajaran Islam dengan budaya lokal yang telah mengakar kuat, serta karakteristik budaya yang dihasilkan dari akulturasi tersebut. Melalui metode penelitian kepustakaan (library research), artikel ini menganalisis berbagai literatur tentang strategi dakwah, akulturasi, dan peninggalan Walisongo. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa Walisongo menggunakan strategi dakwah yang akomodatif, meliputi bidang kesenian (wayang, gamelan), arsitektur (Masjid Demak), sastra (tembang suluk), dan tradisi ritual (slametan, sekaten). Karakteristik budaya yang terbentuk adalah Islam yang toleran, sinkretis, namun tetap berpegang pada nilai-nilai tauhid. Islamic civilization, which entered the Indonesian archipelago in the 7th century AD through trade routes, da'wah, and social interaction, developed peacefully by integrating Islamic values ​​into local culture through a process of acculturation. This process gave birth to Islamic kingdoms such as Samudera Pasai, Demak, Aceh Darussalam, Banten, and Islamic Mataram, as well as traditional institutions such as Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Java, surau (prayer houses) in Minangkabau, and dayah (Islamic boarding schools) in Aceh. The method used is qualitative research through library research with a historical-descriptive approach and triangulation of sources from various scientific journals and primary historical sources. The results of the study indicate that traditional Islamic educational institutions function not only as centers of religious learning, but also as a medium for the formation of moral character, social cohesion, and national awareness that would later become the foundation of the Indonesian independence struggle. This study aims to analyze the political model developed by Walisongo in shaping Islamic civilization in the Indonesian archipelago, with emphasis on the mechanisms of ulama-ruler relations, the political transformation from Hindu-Buddhist to Islamic systems, and the cultural-political integration that produced a distinctive Nusantara Islamic identity. Employing a qualitative historical method through systematic literature review of primary and secondary sources, this study finds that Walisongo constructed a culturally-grounded political model characterized by three core traits: accommodative legitimacy, adaptive governance, and integrative socio-political authority. Crucially, this model functioned not merely as a religious strategy but as a deliberate political architecture that enabled the Demak Sultanate and subsequent Islamic polities to consolidate power without coercive force. The novelty of this research lies in its analytical framework that bridges Islamic civilization theory (Ibn Khaldun), Islamization theory, and political Islam theory to explain the Walisongo political model as a coherent system—distinct from previous studies that treat these elements separately.
